Ideas for Class Projects

Music

For my photoshop project, I had the idea to create tour posters. In 2020, Adobe held a creative contest for Lady Gaga's 6th studio album release, Chromatica, as a joint collaboration. They uploaded free assets from her album's promotional materials to use in their programs to create art pieces. One Idea I have is to use these assets and create some sort of promotional image with them. This summer, she happens to be going on a tour promoting this album, so I may use photoshop to create a promotional poster for this tour using the assets adobe has provided. The purpose would be to promote the upcoming tour, and the intended audience would be Lady Gaga's fans and general concert attendees. I could also create fake tour posters, or some sort of posters for a music festival that I make up, both of which would serve a similar purpose to this. This would be cool as well as it would allow me to design and create some sort of unique festival that I created.

For the video editing project, the idea I had would be to make some sort of album review. A lot of albums come out weekly and, for my video project, I could do some sort of album review where I talk about the album or give my impressions. I listen to a lot of different music releases weekly, so this could be an interesting project. The intended audience would be those who enjoy music and those who are interested in that album. The purpose would be to give my perspective on the album, share my opinions, etc. Another sort of video project is discussing some of the billboard charts of this year, talking about the most popular songs at the moment of this year, etc.

As somebody who is in choir and frequently sings, I could also create a video encouraging people to begin taking singing lessons or joining choir. I could make some sort of video of our choir here at UCSB, talk about the events we do, talk about the program, introduce more people to the choirs here. The audience would be UCSB students and the purpose would be to inform students about the choral program here and maybe persuade them to join. For the illustration project, I could create different infographics on the different types of mediums music is in and how their purposes are explained. CDs, digital files, cassette tapes, and vinyl records are all similar mediums for listening to music but differ massively in their capabilities and uses. So, for my project, I could make some sort of comparison charts or infographics regarding these different mediums that would inform people of their differences, and maybe help them make an informed decision on which medium to purchase their music on. The audience would be people who are interested in purchasing music, but do not know how to go about purchasing their music and are not aware of the different mediums available for purchasing.
