Sphere Photoshop Tutorial

I followed a tutorial on making a sphere in a landscape. First, I took the circular selection tool and made a selection of the original landscape. I then created a new layer and filled that space with black. Next, I created a copy of the original background layer and used the filer -> spherize effect two times. After, I used the transform tool to size it down to the original circular selection, and then I deleted the edges of the photo. Next, I added some layers of shading and highlighting to the sphere and added layer blending filters to create a spherical effect. Finally, I created a shadow by transforming a smaller circle and inverted the circular landscape image to give the "spherical" effect. This is the final result. The original photo was taken in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
